Intercultural Montessori Language School

Executive Director

Intercultural Montessori Language School (Intercultural) with campuses in Chicago and Oak Park, IL, delivers a unique dual language/Montessori blended education serving 300 students ages 3 to 14. The Board seeks a Head of School to serve as philosophical and instructional leader to serve as the Executive Director to lead both the Chicago and Oak Park campuses. The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to the Montessori method and dual language program, and have experience in an established school. The Executive Director will report to Intercultural’s Board of Directors.  

Qualifications: 

• Strong advocate for Montessori education. 
• Strong advocate for dual language education. 
• Montessori certification through an accredited institution preferred. 
• Previous working in a Montessori school strongly recommended with leadership responsibilities. 
• Administrator/Principal certification and/or experience strongly recommended. 
• Robust leadership skills. 
• Experience creating an organization and maintaining sustainability preferred. 
• Proven experience with staff supervision and budget management. 
• Ability/Willingness to lead in fund development, including identification, cultivation and stewardship of donors. 
• Highly self-motivated. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Located in downtown Park Ridge near the train station, Montessori Academy of Illinois, established in 1993, serves children ages 6 weeks through 6 years of age.  Our staff becomes like a family member as we serve the needs of our students and parents in four classrooms, one for Infants, one for Toddlers and two for 3-6 year old children.  Currently, we are seeking an Infant-Toddler teacher and Teacher’s Assistant with good people skills who value working as part of a close-knit school. 

Candidates for Infant-Toddler teacher must have a grounding in Montessori philosophy and have, or be working toward an AMS certification. BS / BA degree is required with at least 18 hours of early childhood education.  Compensation is commensurate with experience.  Disability insurance is offered.  If a candidate has 21+ hours of early child childhood education and is organized with computer skills, there is a Teacher-Assistant Head of School position for a higher salary.

For the Teacher’s Assistant position, the school will pay for Montessori certification for the right candidate.  Early childhood education is a plus.

Upper Elementary Classroom Assistant

 The Montessori School of Lake Forest is seeking an Upper Elementary Classroom Assistant (ages 9-12) for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year. The Assistant works together with the Upper Elementary Directress to nurture, guide and teach children utilizing the Montessori method. The ideal candidate will be reliable, and possess a patient, positive, and firm but respectful manner toward children in his/her care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and supportive respect for colleagues, children and families (required)
  • Supervising indoor and outdoor recess with children
  • Observing children, supporting class rules and class procedures, and overall supervision of the classroom
  • Sharing staffing responsibility for Club Days (vacation dates on which the school is open for enrolled families)
  • Assisting children in developing independence with self-care, with snack set-up/clean-up, lunch set-up/clean-up, and cooking projects
  • Assisting the Teacher in preparing and maintaining the environment, following Teacher’s instructions for the care and maintenance of classroom and materials, including classroom stocking, organization and daily cleaning
  • If directed by the Teacher, working with individual or small groups of children on limited and specific tasks or projects
  • Always projecting supportive attitude and employing positive language in all communications with all members of the school community at all times
  • If directed, helping maintain current, accurate classroom records

Qualifications include:

  • Good communication skills and strong work ethic
  • Investment in continuous learning and development
  • Ability to collaborate, multi-task and learn through observation and modeling
  • High School diploma required; two years of college preferred
  • Prior experience working with children preferred
