Role Overview

The Lead Montessori Teacher guides the development of children in a thoughtfully prepared environment that supports independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. Key Responsibilities

Job Description
Our Lower Elementary English Lead Montessori teacher should demonstrate knowledge and internalization of the core beliefs of Montessori philosophy, such as respect for the individual learner; preparation of self and the environment; fostering independence, order and concentration in the student; respect for and recognition of sensitive periods, planes of development and intrinsic motivation of the student.

The Teacher should demonstrate fundamental communication skills to support the social and emotional development of students and to communicate with parents about student’s social/emotional and academic progress.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Uses Montessori curriculum current research and Montessori Albums to develop and implement units of instruction.
Observes the overall classroom environment during individual lessons and records observations.
Supports students in assessing their work as developmentally appropriate.
Uses various methods of communication to discuss student development with parents.
Implements accommodations and interventions to help students meet expectations for student learning, in consultation with school administrators and parents.
Share knowledge of child development concepts with all stakeholders
Maintain an ongoing conversation with additional staff members and parents regarding how to best coordinate curriculum.
Participate in meetings, training and planning to meet the needs of each child.
Complete required progress reports in alignment with school timelines
Participate in school functions and field trips.
Keep classroom organized, maintain student academic and observation records.
Apply classroom management skills, plan lessons based on the curriculum and use assessment in planning in concert with student.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities

QUALIFICATIONS:
Lead teacher working towards or holding a credential for the level teaching that has been issued by an AMS, NCME, or AMI teacher education program, or any other MACTE-accredited course (or who are enrolled and in good standing in a qualifying Montessori teacher education program) and qualify with the minimum number of points required in the Teacher Requirements Verification form.
Elementary Lead teachers must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university in the U.S., a degree that is deemed to be equivalent, or one that meets the nationally recognized post-secondary educational standard in the state, province, or country of issuance as determined by a recognized U.S. credentialing agency (i.e., a credentialing agency that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services).

Country Meadows is looking for a certified Montessori Elementary Director for our multi-aged 4^th, 5^th and 6^th grade classroom of students for immediate hire this 2026-27 school year. The candidate would have to have teacher certification through a MACTE accredited training center for elementary levels.

If the candidate is currently taking the 9-12 Montessori training and would be amenable to self-directed teaching next year, you would be mentored by our current Adolescent Director.

Rock Prairie Montessori School (RPMS) seeks a qualified candidate f or its Head of School position beginning in the fall of 2026. The current Head of School will be retiring and the leadership transition will occur over a year to ensure that the process is smooth and supportive.

Nestled in a picturesque wooded area of Janesville, Wisconsin, RPMS serves 186 students in eight classrooms ranging from Toddler House to Middle School. The well-appointed school building includes a gym, kitchen and recently updated commons areas. With long-tenured staff, most of whom are fully Montessori-credentialed, the school maintains a child-centered school in accordance with the Montessori Method. There are 32 staff members. Montessori teaching credential preferred, but will consider candidates with education experience who have an interest in Montessori.
Montessori Administrator credential or willingness to obtain the Montessori Administrator credential. Administrative experience in an educational setting; at least five years’ experience in administration in a Montessori school preferred.
Previous classroom experience in Montessori required.
A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is required.
Experience with regulatory, personnel, budget, and fiscal management preferred.
Experience working with a governing Board preferred.
Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, financial and facilities management preferred.
Meeting all requirements of local, state and accrediting/regulatory bodies.
